Cork Bartape

The ITM Cork Bartape brings a classic touch to your road bike's cockpit, offering a natural grip material that has kept riders comfortable on long days in the saddle for decades. At Rs. 1,199, it is an accessible upgrade for riders across Pune's plateau rides, Chennai's coastal routes, and the switchbacks of Lonavala and Khandala — delivering dependable cushioning and control wherever Indian roads take you.

Our Take

Cork has earned its place in cycling for good reason: it absorbs road buzz better than many synthetic alternatives, and ITM's interpretation keeps that tradition honest. On the rough tarmac typical of Indian roads — chip-seal surfaces, patched climbs through the Western Ghats, or the long flat stretches outside Hyderabad — the natural flex of cork works with your hands rather than against them. It also stays reasonably grippy even when palms get sweaty in 35°C+ summer heat, making it a sensible choice for warm-weather riders.

Sizing for Indian Riders

Bartape is a one-size product and fits all standard drop handlebars. Indian riders with smaller hand sizes may prefer to add an extra half-wrap layer at the hoods for more padding. If you ride in hot and humid conditions — Mumbai monsoon season or Chennai summers — consider applying a light finishing layer of electrical tape to seal the ends securely, as moisture can loosen adhesive over time.

Compatibility Notes

ITM Cork Bartape suits all standard drop road handlebars including anatomic and compact shapes. The adhesive backing secures cleanly to aluminium and carbon bars. Follow up with bar plugs (sold separately) to finish the install. Avoid petroleum-based cleaners; wipe down with a damp cloth to maintain the cork surface and extend its life.

Pairs Well With

Complete your cockpit refresh with a quality stem and handlebar combination, a set of reliable bar-end plugs, and a finishing tape roll for a clean, professional wrap. If you are upgrading your contact points overall, a new saddle pairs naturally with fresh bartape for a consistent feel on longer rides.
